As you probably remember, earlier, Sam was barely employed and pretty depressed, and Eleanor, wanting to do something nice for him, since she couldn’t get him a job or erase his student loans or his credit card debt, got Sam a video game wherein he could be there, finally, when the angels come. It was the nicest thing she could do for him at the time. As you probably remember, Sam has a job now. Sam realizes, walking from the train to the office, one morning, that he could go and buy a good coffee grinder and some good coffee and a cold brew device for Eleanor. He could make sure she always had cold coffee in the morning, the way she likes it. It would cost him under $100 to do something that would always, always be nice for her. Money is a stupid, terrible, bullshit thing. But when we have it we can use it to do incredibly nice things for the people we love.
